Do I have to buy specific ammunition on site to be used on your range?
- No, JCGC does not require members or guests to purchase ammo on site. We encourage members to purchase ammo from and support locally owned gun retailers, as long as the Range Rules on specific ammo are followed.
Do you rent guns that can be used on the range?
- No, we do not.
Do you sell guns or gun related services onsite?
- JCGC believes in supporting locally owned gun retailers; we do not provide any guns or gun related services available for purchase. We have a list of locations where such services can be obtained, but we do not recommend any specific location.
Can I smoke, eat, or drink inside the club?
- Smoking, no. Eating, not on shooting range. Drinking, not on shooting range. We discourage eating or drinking in the lobby after shooting, unless you have thoroughly cleaned yourself of any gun residue.
I see cars parked out front before/after club hours, does that mean I can enter?
- No, new member orientations and range cleaning services are done during off hours such as before 8AM or after 8PM. Doors open to members at 8AM and close at 8PM (except Tuesdays at 5PM) sharp. These hours are chosen based on the location of the club. Because the range is located in a residential area, it is crucial to be courteous to surrounding neighbors.
When I am done shooting what do I do with my brass shell casings?
- We allow members to keep their used/spent brass shell casings. If you do not wish to keep your remaining casings, pick them up and place them in the locked bin labeled "Brass." This bin is emptied frequently, and the brass is sold and the money used by the club for future upgrades/services.
What are good times to use club facilities without waiting?
- The amount of people who use the club facilities is logged every day and averaged for each day/month. This data is generally available here.
Is there an orientation that is required to join the club?
- Yes, The orientation takes roughly 1-1/2 hours to complete including applications processing.
My ID Card has been misplaced or is damaged, what do I do?
- First, if the card is just damaged, attempt to use the card at the club. It is surprising how much punishment our ID cards can take. If it still does not function or is misplaced a new membership ID card is required, which will cost $10. To begin the process of getting a new card please contact us. Keep in mind, the new card will have a different ID number than your old card.
If I bring a guest, does the guest have to sign some form of liability waiver?
- Yes, upon each visit a guest must fill out and sign a liability waiver. A waiver can be found on our "Guest Requirements" page or at the club near the target table.
Do you have a refund policy?
- The policy to refund dues has two purposes: First, to satisfy shooting hobbyists who will fail to finish a paid year of membership privileges, as provided by Johnson Creek Gun Club, Inc. (JCGC). Secondly, to prevent abuses of the membership structure by hobbyists who might join, use the facility, then request refund (therefore, unilaterally altering member terms to function as “single use” with rates that may be quite disadvantageous to the club.)
1) Refunds are issued only upon written request by the member and must include the surrender of the entry key card. The date of such surrender is the date to be used in prorating the refund, with partial used months rounding up as months used by the membership. Refunds will be classified as “Simple Request” or “Hardship Request” (see paragraphs {3} and {4a} for details of each.)
2) In no case will the Joining Fee be subject to refund. This is because services, paid by that fee, have already been extended and/or performed at orientation.
3) JCGC will refund, upon Simple Request, prorated dues calculated at $10 per unused month (by number of months or partial months as full months used), up to the maximum of $100 total refund. Simple Requests are typically refund requests that do not cite reasons for the request; but will also include requests that claim a hardship but that hardship is not supported by documentation.
4a) JCGC will refund, upon Hardship Request, actual prorated dues (i.e. rate equal to dues payment divided by twelve) with no maximum ceiling on the total. Hardship requests for refund must be supported by verifiable documentation, confirming the hardship in question. Hardships include, but are not limited to, involuntary relocation, medical impairment or military deployment. Facility closure will not be considered grounds for Hardship Request.
4b) An alternative to ending a membership for a refund of dues, Hardship Requests can also be granted to put memberships on hold. Such requests are meant for temporary situations and must include a stated term in months, supported by documentation. Held memberships will still enjoy privileges for the entire year, which were paid by the current dues. However, included will be the months of the request as a "Down Term", wherein privileges were not used and the expiration date is changed to add a number of months equal to the Down Term. (For example: A reservist, to be deployed for three months, can request for a Down Term, on JCGC membership, of those three months. The "hardship" would be granted because the member is unable to use their member privileges, while deployed. Upon return, the reservist enjoys the remainder of the membership from the beginning of deployment because the expiration date on the membership is extended for the Down Term or, in this example, three months.)
5) Refund payment will be by refund to the credit card originally used to pay the dues in question. If dues payment had not been paid via card, a check will be issued, instead. When refunding by check, the payee will be the primary member and the check will be mailed via USPS to the address on the member account file (if no other address is provided.) Refund payments will take 2-3 weeks to process.
6) The decision of the Corporate President, regarding issued refunds (including, but not limited to, approvals, classifications and amounts), will be final.
What is hypervelocity ammunition?
- Hypervelocity ammo is defined as being above 1400 Feet/Second. This type of ammunition is prohibited at our range.
Must one become a member for a one time try at the shooting range?
- Yes, we do not provide a "one time try" of our facilities. If you are interested in joining JCGC and you know someone who is already a member, ask them if they would let you accompany them on their next shoot as a guest. Otherwise, you will have to become a full member to use the club facilities.
Do you require me to be a member of the NRA to join your club?
- No, we do not.
Do you have a family package/plan membership?
- No, we only provide standard membership. This membership allows for one base price for all possible applicants in the family. With standard membership you can share it with your spouse or domestic partner and include minor children under your membership ID.
Why are there no brooms to sweep up spent shells/casings?
- Brooms or sweeps are not located on the premise because they can stir up dust from the floor which is not allowed.
